Pros

I work at General Carbide over the summer months, and they were very good to me. The company has lots of room to grow, and they provide a lot of great benefits to its employees. The only reason I left was due to school and presuing a job more inline with my education. The people there a very nice and if you are willing to learn and work hard you can truly learn alot and can find a very rewarding career.

Cons

Only con was the communication between the upper management and guys on the floor, but this is a common issue in any company. Often, more minor things like having to ask around a lot to figure out how to call off or who to contact about an issue.

Pros

There are a lot of good reasons to work for General Carbide. Fist of all the medical benefits are very good. They have more than one choice and the amount of your contribution deducted from your pay is very affordable. And these plans cover most of your expenses. One plan that I'm firmiliar with is a 0 deductible and low co-pay for prescriptions. Also the rate of pay of wages is very competitive with other companies. The environment is very organized and neat also kept clean. Uniforms are available if you wish to participate. Vacation time and holiday pay is also included. The management is easy to get along with and able to adjust time if needed. They also have outings picnics and holiday gatherings General Carbide is a very good place to work and build a career with opportunities to grow and take classes or training.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints.if you compare you'll agree that they have lots to offer including stability.

Pros

I've been there for five years now and the opportunities are only limited by the effort you put in. I have and continue to learn a broad range of machines from manual to high precision CNC grinders. There has been a lot of new high end machines added which makes the work easier and honestly more fun and the place is shockingly clean! The company tries very hard to develop talent a variety of ways with offering focused training and in house classes and even sending their employees for a four year apprenticeship to achieve genuine Journeyman papers. This is the only place I've worked where the owner shows transparency with the current ins and outs of the companies progression and even sales information which allows you to feel secure in what you're doing. She also has countlessly organized unique and fun events which bring us all together. She is truly passionate about the every aspect of the business and often times shows her appreciation for all the effort. This is a company that if you put the effort in and show you're willing to learn, this company will give you the ability to better yourself.

Cons

Organization would be the only thing I can see that can be worked on but that's an inherent trait of any machining job.
