Managers Beware! - Anonymous employee Geissele Automatics Employee Review

This review is mainly meant for anyone who is considering taking a management position with Geissele. From my experience, if you are leaving a good job that has job security, don't leave it for Geissele. Especially, DO NOT BELIEVE the owner if he makes you promises. You'll be making a BIG mistake! Here is a list of the cons: 1) There is a high voluntary turn over rate because of a lack of job security. Most people get the feeling after about 1 year, that the company really does not value its employees. 2) They often walk out employees who give notice. If you decide to give notice, quit on a Friday. They rarely ever let people work out two weeks. 3) There is a double standard. In other words, if a manager or supervisor raises his voice or uses profanity when disaplining an employee for not doing their job correctly, you'll get written up or spoken to about it. But, owner can do it whenever he wants. He'll not only yell at you, but he will curse at you if you or someone you are managing makes a mistake. 4) The last six shop foremans that they have had, lasted between one to eight months. This is not because they were not good managers or machinists, but because they get the feeling of defeat because the owner is always telling them what they messed up. All of them failed because the owner failed them. 5) There are unreasonable expectations. For example, the operation's manager was fired for not responded to an email during Father's Day. 6) There is no clearly defined QMS system at Geissele. This very frustrating for managers and employees, and because of it, the companies quality system is lacking a lot. 7) When they hire new managers they are given the pep talk from the upper managers. But, they do not clearly define the goals, nor do they help you to accomplish their requests. The owner is a very good engineer, but he should not try to manager his managers. He lacks patience and the skill to manage. He is really good at criticising your mistakes. Do not expect to be told when you are doing a good job.
