Pros

Good salary, opportunities for its growth. It's fun because there's always some wild stuff going on.

Cons

An oppressive leadership that periodically contradicts itself. Instant burnout. Lack of established processes. Shift of all responsibility from management to performers. You will not do your job here, you will do anything.

Pros

This is the "family business" environment. There is no strict rules, schedules, dress codes and so on. If you care about the company, it takes care of you. So, if you need a few days leave to take care of your private business - you will have it. If you need some help, you'll have it as well. No HRs, legal people and so on, carefully counting how many sick days did you take, what time have you arrived and did you express your love to the company according to the corporate rule book. This is pure "if you are good to mama, mama is good to you". And if they are good, they are really good. Free education, higher than average salary, perfect benefits package, nice playroom, playground, "cinema night" and events for children if you need to take your child with you, corporate events and many other things. This year there were some troubles related to one of the major clients, however, the management handles these troubles pretty well. They laid off a few people who were doing non-core jobs such as marketing people and Spanish support, however, the majority of employees keep their salary and benefits. I did not rate "culture and values" as the company owners and the majority of employees have pretty conservative values, so it is all personal and subjective. They value knowledge, responsibility, and hard working. Say, discussing popular among millennials "triggers" and "microaggression" would rather cause laugh than understanding. But, say, the company not only allows but encourages concealed carry at the workplace with a few reasonable limitations (e.g. strictly no guns and alcohol or when children present - the gun must be either in the holster or in the safe). It also gives a lot of first-aid training and provides an excelled set of first-aid tools and packs readily available. So, they don't speak about safety but really care about that. Or, say, they support a lot of charity especially those who provide aid to sick children or to help veterans. However, what I like about - is that all hot political and social topics are strictly banned from the discussion at the workplace and during the corporate events. So, there is not any kind of agenda pushed or even advertised. I would say that depending on what is your core values you will either love or hate it. I, personally, like it.

Cons

This is "the family business" environment. As everything in the world, it is good and it is bad. Unlike the corporate environment, where you are good as long as you follow the instructions and rules, you have to think what is good and what is bad for the management. Sometimes you have to guess and it is pretty confusing and exhausting. There is also no working rules for "how to make boss to like you". This is the only one way to be liked by the boss - you have to do your job darn well. "This is not my responsibility", "there is something else who failed" aren't accepted as the answer. Either job is done or not. It is also a small company, about 20 employees here in the US, so responsibility is high, even if the position is not. At the same time, there is no big way to grow, comparing big companies. Whoever does the high-ranking job, they are working for this company for decades so it is almost impossible to take their position.
