Pros

People still call it their place of employment.

Cons

The place has puppets for a staff who gets to do dirty work of the head huncho. These people don't care about the morale of its employees, too much back stabbing, NO STABILITY unless you do what the former TN Commissioner says.. It's their way or "You're not a good fit"You could start today and be gone by lunch time..DON'T waste your time PLEASE!!

Pros

Benefits are better than at some comparable agencies. You're certainly given a large number of sick/vacation days which is not to be discounted.

Cons

I remember when working for Gateway engendered some sense of self pride or at least agency-pride. Gateway once felt almost family-like (a feeling that is now discouraged). There is no sense now that management cares for employees (as heads roll weekly - sometimes entire departments "roll" in one fell swoop and staff is never given an explanation as if the frequency of this was not depleting morale). Even worse, there is little real sense that management cares about the care clients are receiving with insufficient staff and no professional supervision. It is a sad place to work, with no seeming prospects of there being a "brighter day". The negative attitude of employees has little to do with a lack of understanding of a business model. It stems rather from not being listened to and being de-valued as you sit back and watch clients also taking second place to corporate profit (which seems ephemeral). If you care about yourself, if you care about the people you work with or for, don't work here.
