Challenging With Opportunity - Manager Garretson Resolution Group Employee Review

Pros

There are countless things to improve at this company. That works one of two ways for people. If you like structure and predictability, you will end up frustrated at the vast majority of roles in the organization. If you can deal with the fast-paced and often disorganized nature of the company, there is opportunity everywhere. Compensation is typically competitive, but mileage may vary. Overall, employees who have demonstrated a desire to take on more responsibility have been given opportunity. Quality of work life balance varies dramatically between roles, departments, and seasons. I think it's safe to say that most roles in the organization will have their crunch periods where balance suffers. Those spells are pretty temporary though. The employees we have here are fantastic people, and are one of the biggest reasons I am optimistic for the organization. I enjoy the camaraderie among the group, and even when things are rougher there is a strong sense of togetherness that pulls us through it.

Cons

Instability within IT segments of organization have impacted progress of core business initiatives. The company is currently trying to rebuild from a period of volatility and turnover, which is always difficult. High-performing technical talent frequently flows out to banks and other employers in the area.

Pros

Good place to work if you are between REAL jobs! - Dress Code: wear jeans everyday (and other attire not appropriate for the workplace) - Paycheck: received a paycheck for my work - Co-Workers: great co-workers (don't mistake, Senior Management is not included in this) - Location - I didn't mind the location. It's off the beaten path - close to the owners mansion (let's not inconvenience him although he rarely comes to the office) - Job Security - there is a guy who was out over 60 days last year (no FMLA or disability) and he is still employed.

Cons

- Happy Hour: I'm all for a good Happy Hour, but beer in the office is not appropriate. This is not a frat house..... - Dress Code: people wear leggings to work who should not be wearing leggings - Good Ol' Boys Club: yes, you must be in the 'club' to be promoted. And, it helps if you are a friend, college roommate, Church buddy, or relative. - Management Oversight: the fox is watching the hen house. There are a few who do not log their vacation, sick time, or general time away from work and NO ONE does anything about it. - Technology: The '90's called, they want their excel sheets back. They throw good money after bad and still the technology stinks.
