Pros

Excellent business model and outlook. C-Level is excellent.

Cons

Weak middle management. Day-to-day work at a company of this size should not feel as chaotic or operationally disorganized as it does. Expectations for success are often unclear, making it difficult to know what good performance actually looks like. The organization is accumulating more red tape and process overhead while maintaining an extremely high pace of work. Despite that intensity, it does not feel like my team produced much of value this year. It has become the worst of both worlds: large-company bureaucracy without large-company leverage, and startup-level urgency without startup-level output. Top-of-funnel hiring issues. Some hiring managers and recruiters seem to be lowering the bar.

Pros

Extremely smart, mission-driven people at every level and every corner of the organization. Being part of a team that has a real shot at tangibly impacting healthcare in the US for the better is exciting and fulfilling. And it's a rapidly growing organization with a culture that favors talent and results over years of experience, so there's lot of room for career advancement if you are motivated.

Cons

The performance bar is high, the workload can be demanding at times, and things move very quickly. But on the flip side, for the same reasons, working at Garner is also very rewarding-- working in a place you are challenged means you get to constantly learn new things, see new things, and grow as a professional and an individual.

Pros

-A lot has changed at Garner in the last several years, for the better. There used to be a huge culture of micromanagement from the top down, and now that we’ve grown larger that has shifted -High value product with a ton of growth potential that’s actually making a difference -really great peers who are ambitious and mission-driven -good salaries -lots of opportunity if you like to build and iterate -interesting ever changing work -management that really cares about me

Cons

Your experience at Garner really depends on your department. Some work you to the bone, some have weak leadership, others are great. Working directly with the CEO is tough as he is more of a micromanager. My team doesn’t happen to have that issue or a work life balance issue so much, so my experience has generally been good. - low diversity, likes to recruit from consulting firms too much -if you aren’t efficient or don’t use the tools available, work life balance will suffer
