Pros

You can earn a measly paycheck for some period of time. And, some brilliant people walked through those walls. Many of us are still friends, and I admire their work post-Game Closure/Weeby.co/Blackstorm.

Cons

The company exists purely to enable to wanderlust of its man-child CEO. He jaunts about Asia, ignoring any and all responsibilities of his duty so he can chase women overseas. The company has no other real reason. They make up false stories about what "technology" they are developing, sell the story to some investors, get enough venture money to disappear for a couple of years, and rinse, repeat some years later. The CEO has a sociopathic charisma and wields it for venture capital fundraising. He is a one-shot wonder who is still capitalizing off of his contribution to web-sockets a great number of years ago. He is not brilliant-- he is just a great liar. He now just takes advantage of eager investors to follow his whims around the world. It's an enviable lifestyle, but as an employee, you will become the victim of it. You exist only to fill the seat to appease some terrible function of this terrible organization. They need some pixels arranged that look like a fairy? Hire a graphic designer, then fire them for any sort of complaint. The people who "work" there all know they are just biding their time until the whole circus is over. This is not a value generating organization-- it is a vehicle for Michael Carter's lust of extravagance. The nature of this company is clear in these reviews: Anything real is 1 star, anything fake is 5. Anyone who works there and is not part of the original protected outfit will not have kind things to share about this company. Employees are constantly lied to and teased about raises to keep them retained. When employees talk amongst each other, it's clear that *everyone* is aware of how backwards and dysfunctional this place is. And once it's clear to "management" that everyone is on to them, and nearing a revolt, there will be a massive layoff for "restructuring" (as it's communicated to the partner companies overseas). In the ecosystem of Silicon Valley, this company is a bottom feeder who leeches off the excess protein created by the surrounding environment. It's easy to vend lies and falsehoods to eager investors who want a bite of the SV gold rush and don't do technical diligence or read Glassdoor reviews. Don't be a victim of this company. It's a band of idiots, and you will only have remorse for the time you spent there that could have been spent elsewhere appreciating your short life. The only reason this company hasn't been completely obliterated by press like that of Theranos is because its work simply isn't important enough. Nobody cares about what they do or make, so they fly under the radar and continue to get away scot-free.

Pros

Game Closure is a "work hard, play hard" company with great benefits and very competitive salaries. The company creates addictively fun games using some of the most important and ground-breaking metrics-based game systems I've encountered. The team is extremely smart and motivated. Everyone is warm and inviting and cares very much about helping employees achieve a positive work/life balance. I can't say enough about what a friendly and supportive group of people I found everyone to be.

Cons

An intense (but rewarding), fast paced, customer-focused development environment best suited for those who enjoy this kind of excitement and high energy.

Pros

It is great when it is great. Lots of food provided, activities after-hours many days a week, "unlimited vacations," jams, etc. CEO is very active in the startup community. If you are willing to accept the company direction of the moment, there can be opportunities to climb the ladder in a short amount of time. Compensation is high as well, although you will be working long hours and weekends for it (though that may be good for some types). They also tend to seek and get a lot of press.

Cons

Turnover is extremely high (ie several people a month), both due to employees frequently leaving for places with more opportunities for growth, or firings. Most hires are gone after a year or two, if not months. Expectation of long work hours and a cult-like attitude. The company vision seems to shift frequently... it used to be a company called Game Closure and was rebranded to fit the most recent shift. Management can be inspirational at times, but can also be fickle and hard to dialogue with. Production cycles have ill-defined goals with no followthrough, and a lot of wasted effort. Can be very frustrating. Overall would not recommend to a friend as there are many more stable places to work at.
