Pros

They've painted lovely lines on the ground so I don't get lost on my way to the toilet.

Cons

Management very critical if you make a mistake, and completely useless if you need help with anything. The tools and supplies they provide us are inadequate IF they even have any in stock. We haven't had a uniform supplier in over 6 months because they can't seem to figure that one out. They consistently screw up our pay every Christmas, and this year we received no bonus, no gift card, no advent calendar, not even a crummy box of chocolates. They did ask if anyone wanted OT during the Christmas break, but it won't even be the usual 1.5 pay, it'll be standard rate. Oh and they have a scheme where you can purchase extra holiday days, up to 5, and they deduct the money from your pay in small amounts. Well THIS YEAR there was an extra special treat. They denied nearly everyone's holiday purchase! It turns out that because they pay us so little, that the deduction from the holiday purchase would put us below minimum wage so whatever software they use for payroll automatically denied all purchases. Fortunately, management quickly came to the rescue and graciously informed us that there is nothing they can do because the period for purchasing holidays is over. Gee, thank you so much sir's! My morale is soaring! 🤮 Avoid this place if you have any self respect.

Pros

Great coworkers and talented engineers who genuinely support one another. Opportunity to work on impactful projects and solve real business problems. Exposure to modern BI and data technologies. Strong team members who are willing to go above and beyond to deliver results. Good learning opportunities for self-motivated individuals.

Cons

Leadership and management style can create unnecessary stress and turnover risk. Frequent micromanagement and excessive focus on responsiveness rather than outcomes. High meeting volume reduces time available for focused engineering work. Priorities and stakeholder commitments are sometimes established before consulting the engineers responsible for delivery. Limited trust in experienced employees and their ability to manage their own work. Internal growth and mobility can feel restricted. Work-life balance can be impacted by shifting priorities and urgent requests. Lack of recognition or compensation alignment when additional onsite expectations or workload demands are introduced. Having a non-technical BI manager overseeing technical engineering work can sometimes result in unrealistic timelines, misunderstandings of development complexity, and decisions being made without sufficient technical input.
