Pros

You will get paid and you will have a nice place to work. There are nice people that work here who really want GTE to be all it is presented to be.

Cons

Senior Management. What you will read in these reviews I have just read myself is the bold honest truth. I am so disappointed in how I have seen people be treated here. Senior management is the core of the toxicity in this company. Favoritism is alive and well, it's who you know, not what you know. The Rah Rah Hooplah that the Talent department puts out is all to compensate for the lack on integrity in the management team. The CEO is blind to the issues that exist. If you get hired at GTE make it a "band-aid" til you receive your next job offer. The pay is mediocre but the workload is tremendous.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize the Total Rewards program that highlights our benefits and leadership team. Yes, we follow Financial Industry work hours, but our PTO and company Holidays are very generous and help to maintain a work life balance.

Pros

There are a few employees who genuinely care about helping members, and the credit union does offer occasional community events and volunteer opportunities. The basic benefits package is decent especially 401k match.

Cons

Compensation for frontline roles is far below market, especially considering the level of sales pressure, lending responsibilities, and constant customer support required. Competing credit unions and major banks pay significantly more for identical work. The “people helping people” branding does not reflect the internal reality or the policies employees must follow. Community events and parade appearances feel performative and do nothing to address the issues staff and members face. Branch leadership often behaves unprofessionally, with inconsistent expectations and dismissive communication, leaving little meaningful coaching or support. The attendance policy also allows managers to issue write-ups after only three call-out days within six months, even if one of those absences is just a partial day. This gives managers extensive discretion and creates a system that feels unnecessarily imbalanced. The overall culture, policies, and compensation create an environment where even employees who truly care struggle to succeed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with GTE during your short tenure with us. We conduct regular compensation surveys to ensure we remain competitive with our compensation practices in all of our markets. We pride ourselves on our community involvement and as a Not for Profit, this is reflective in our daily values to the community. Our attendance policy addresses and supports employees to ensure they can achieve a work life balance while addressing those that experience schedule deviations. We pride ourselves on the employee satisfaction surveys which are also reflected in the years of service that our employees give to the GTE Family. That is why GTE has been voted a Best Place to Work in not only local but National surveys.
