Pros

Some very good and smart people who really cared about doing their jobs well. Lots of in office happy hours with booze. Company sold its assets to Blackstone.

Cons

Leadership was working on shadow deals. Starts and stops to many projects resulted in significant loss of money and time. GLP outsourced major accounting functions early in 2019. Soon after the outsourcing, the assets were sold to Blackstone. All the secrecy on these behind door deals resulted in not including the right people at the right time even though many could have helped. Moral was low as groups of people were let go over the year. Some departments worked absurd hours with no relief. Not a well balanced and thoughtful organization.

Pros

- good location for commuters i.e. connected to ogilvie and short walk to L trains - consistent employee engagement i.e. annual summer event, happy hours, department outings - compensation higher than standard average

Cons

- little growth i.e. senior staff must leave to be promoted at associate/sr associate level - VP level and above promotions based on gender and favoritism - minimal diversity in office - lack of confidentiality and inappropriate involvement of day to day decision making with HR - rules and standards not applying to all staff based on favoritism - ZERO transparency i.e. monthly town halls for show and not telling - lack of promised cross training - culture committee not able to improve culture i.e. HR red tape - lack of job security and leadership changes in short time frame i.e. firings in winter 2018, lay-off in spring 2019, company sold summer 2019 - small office high-school dynamic i.e. popularity contest v. actual work ethic will get one far
