Pros

The opportunity to work on potentially world impacting software is pretty unique for Silicon Valley. Because GE products are so widely adopted in the world, you will learn about and work on things that can literally reduce millions of gallons of burned fuel and eliminate tons of pollutants from being created. The CEO (of all of GE) is 100% bought into the Digital transition of the company and continues to push this Titantic to turn in the right direction. If you have the patience, you can be part of real change,.

Cons

This is a massive company with over a century of history that plays primarily in the conservative industrial space. It has all of the reflexes in place to cater to that world. While people are on board to make the Digital transition happen, it's going to take several years to change the overall behavior. In the interim, it's a constant management battle to fight the good fight and show the core part of the company that the Silicon Valley way can and will work. It's slow and frustrating to take a few steps forward and then a couple back every time you need to push past yet another conservative cultural blocker.

Wonderful review. I couldn't agree more with every word you said and hope that our patience will be rewarded with a more agile and progressive way of doing business...the Silicon Valley way!
