Pros

- Used to have free lunches. - Unlimited PTO. - Most of your colleagues are genuine people who are great at their jobs. Once they climb the management ladder, they become cogs in the G2 machine.

Cons

- Tone deaf leadership who only look out for their own careers and public perception. Just look at the CEO. Days after a second round of brutal layoffs in just 6 months, he brags on LinkedIn about being on the cover of SAS magazine and being featured in Crain’s Top 50 Under 50. Is this really a leader worthy of good publicity? - The same can be said for the CMO, who bailed on his team after both layoffs. The first time he took nearly a month-long vacation overseas and came back pretending nothing happened. The second time (he’s still OOO at the time of writing this), he’s on a remote camping trip. Is this a leader worthy of respect from his team? No wonder why his top VPs left for better roles during the pandemic. - The former CRO was a bully to his employees and forced out due to many negative reviews on Glassdoor. Unfortunately, he now heads up ThreeKit, the CEO’s latest project. It’s so painfully obvious he cares more about ThreeKit than G2 now. - Middle-management can be toxic depending on your team and routinely tests your loyalty to the company. - If you’re not a “yes man” you will get isolated quickly. Many of the people who were laid off questioned poor strategies at G2. They went against the status quo and thought too outside the box. They were promptly eliminated. - G2 is incredibly wasteful. They spent nearly 7-figures on a new staircase as part of a new office in Chicago. They went in hyper-growth mode and opened offices in London, Bangalore, and other small locations when they knew they didn’t have the funds to do so. I cannot tell you how much food was wasted each day in the kitchen from their free lunches and restocks. Their REACH event hemorrhaged money and fell short of expectations for the sales team. The wasteful spending got so bad, Business Insider published an article about it.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We hear your concerns about senior leadership being more sensitive to employees’ feelings. A couple of weeks ago, at the monthly All-Hands Meeting, our CEO acknowledged this feedback, and the Senior Leadership Team, as a whole has taken steps to work on empathy as part of their current Conscious Leadership training. We are also excited about our new CRO, who is already implementing cultural changes to support our talented and hardworking sales team. We also understand that given the current economic climate, decisions pre-COVID-19 are now being scrutinized. The staircase at our headquarters was part of a larger strategy to create a fun and inviting work environment. Pre-COVID, office design and office environments were an important element of company culture. The staircase and lobby were also designed to be a gathering space for the Chicago tech community, our charitable partners, as well as G2. We believe post-COVID, this space can serve that purpose again. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. Your thoughts and concerns matter and that is why Glassdoor reviews, along with other channels of feedback, are always shared with the leaders of our company. The last few months have been challenging and truly tested our company and our culture. It has not been easy but we will continue to adapt, change, and commit to being better.

Pros

There are genuinely hardworking and talented employees throughout the company who care deeply about their work and support one another. The pace can provide strong learning opportunities, and many individual contributors are doing their best in difficult circumstances. There are also a few truly supportive and empathetic leaders who made challenging situations more manageable.

Cons

Leadership often came across as unprofessional, disconnected, and overly self-important. There was a strong culture of acting as though G2 was the center of the professional world, when in reality many employees were overworked, undervalued, and treated as resources rather than people. While leadership frequently preached authenticity, empathy, and culture, the day-to-day experience often felt inconsistent with those messages. One thing that stood out to me was how much this environment seemed to trickle down from the Employee Success organization itself. While there were absolutely a few supportive and empathetic people on the team, much of the leadership culture within Employee Success appeared more focused on protecting the business and maintaining optics than genuinely advocating for employees. For a function centered around people and culture, that disconnect was difficult to ignore. Employees who voiced concerns or challenged decisions did not always feel respected or heard, and communication could feel performative rather than transparent. There was often a noticeable gap between company branding and the internal employee experience.
