Pros
Colleagues are amazing, everyone on my team works hard and is trying to do their best with the resources they have available. Easy commute to the office.
Cons
Working at Funko has become increasingly disheartening over the past few years. What was once a creative and energetic workplace has steadily deteriorated under the leadership of the current CEO. Rather than revitalizing the company, her decisions have contributed to a sharp decline in performance and morale. A major point of frustration has been the hiring of numerous former Amazon employees into management and leadership roles. These hires were presumably brought in to drive innovation and profitability, but unfortunately, they have failed to deliver on either front. Instead of improvements, we've seen stagnant or worsening performance metrics and continued strategic missteps with our products. The only thing making money is Mondo. This most recent round of layoffs, the fourth in just three years, reflects the deep instability within the company. Job security is nearly nonexistent, despite internal communications about restructuring and stopping unprofitable projects, neither of which appear to actually be happening. Many employees are bracing for further cuts, which are rumored to continue into the later half of 2025. Stock is at an all time low! Overall, Funko has shifted from being a fun and inspiring place to work into an environment of uncertainty, poor executive leadership, and declining opportunities. I would caution potential applicants to thoroughly research the company’s recent history before considering a position here.
