Pros

I cannot think of five positive words to say about Frontpoint.

Cons

If you ever take online reviews seriously, then you need to take the recent Frontpoint reviews to heart. In 2018, the sales team completely failed, and their performance was so bad that Frointpoint had to lay off 40+people in corporate. Additionally, the former COO, who was in charge of sales at the time, was promoted to CEO, immediately following the layoffs. Subsequently, the people who were left at Frontpoint were stuck doing the work of 3-4 people, and the culture became toxic due to leadership across the board ranging from the Directors, VPs, and especially, the C-level Executives. If you are someone who is considering leaving your current position for this company, I strongly recommend that you read all of the reviews before making that decision. If you are someone who is unemployed, and you are looking for a job, then I advise you to continue your job search so that you can find a company who values their employees, and a company who is stable. If you do decide to join the company after reading all of the reviews, then I will tell you this right now, you will regret it. If you have read Frontpoint’s response to the negative reviews that are posted on Glassdoor, then I recommend that you review my annotated notes below to get a deeper understand of what they are actually saying. I have selected seven sentences that they said as a way for the reader to challenge Frontpoint’s words. Frontpoint Quote #1: “We’d like to provide some transparency and perspective to the reviews you may be seeing on our Glassdoor page.” Annotation #1: The leadership at Frontpoint should never use the word “transparent” in anything that they say, because they were not transparent about the state that the business was in prior to the layoff. The mass layoff was a complete shock to everyone at Frontpoint, including Managers. Do you really want to work for a company who doesn’t value their people enough to be honest with them? Frontpoint Quote #2: “And even after all that, for the first time ever, we’re opening a new office and expanding from our headquarters in Virginia to the west coast.” Annotation #2: What exactly does “expanding” mean to this company? Laying off 40+ corporate employees, firing Sales Consultant on a weekly basis, and having extremely high attrition, does not mean that they are “expanding”, just because they’re opening in another location. They are not opening a massive office building with several new employees; they are opening a very small call center for Sales Consultants (as you will see if you go to their open jobs) to help increase the profit just enough so that they can eventually sell. Do you really want to work for a company who doesn’t give an accurate description of what’s actually happening? Frontpoint Quote #3: “At Frontpoint, we’re moving into what you might call our ‘teenage years’.” Annotation #3: The only thing that Frontpoint is moving into is complete self-destruction. The leadership has proven to be ineffective in their attempts to scale the company based off of the fact that they just had a mass layoff. Do you really want to work for a company that is clearly moving in the wrong direction? Frontpoint Quote #4: “We learned that as we grow and have new positions to fill, we will reflect on what makes an employee successful at Frontpoint. It’s someone who aligns with our values of ‘Build Trust, Dream Big and Be Awesome’ as well as our ethos—a Frontpoint employee brings:” Annotation #4: They are saying that none of the people who were laid off aligned with their mission statement, when in reality, the employees of Frontpoint aligned with the mission statement, and the leadership team did not. Do you really want to work for a company who views former employees that way? Frontpoint Quote #5: “Sometimes there are people who have difficulty taking direct feedback, aren’t open to coaching, and eventually aren’t successful because of that.” Annotation #5: Once again, Frontpoint is talking negatively about the people that they laid off., and they are placing blame on the employees that were let go. The reality is that the employees who were laid off were doing to right thing, and they were some of the brightest and most hard-working individuals that I have come across in my tenured career. Do you really want to work for leadership who places the blame on everyone else? Frontpoint Quote #6: “Over the next few months, we’re going to ask those employees to share their point of view.” Annotation #6: The only reason that a current employee would write a positive review is because they are drowning in their own work, and they are desperate to get help. Are you really going to trust any positive reviews from this company after you’ve read through the negative reviews, which by the way, are 100% truthful? Frontpoint Quote #7: “At Frontpoint, we don’t shudder when faced with a problem. We take it head on and provide solutions.” Annotation #7: They don’t shudder when they have problems because they don’t see them until the very last minute, and their solution is having mass layoffs. Do you want to work for leadership who doesn’t understand how to effectively run a business? If you take anything from this review then I want you to remember the following sentence: Frontpoint is not a dying company; Frontpoint is a company that is already dead.

Frontpoint Response

While we understand this former employee’s point of view is not positive on Frontpoint, we would like to make sure to clarify any misunderstandings they had while reading our letter to prospective employees. We’d like to point you back to the statement we made in regards to some of the changes that took place at the beginning of the year: “There were a few strategic initiatives that we slowed down to ensure a more meticulous launch and we did have to part ways with some fantastic members of the corporate team. It was very difficult to lose talented people. That difficulty would become a complete and utter loss if we didn’t let it affect us and learn from it.” We did our best to make it clear that at the time, we had to part ways with very talented individuals that were aligned to our mission. The comments after that regarding our future growth and the qualities we look for in any candidates going forward were not made to cast any aspersions on the caliber or alignment of those individuals. We also believe the sentences referenced in the post require context and we ask that you take the time to read the posting in its entirety yourself on the company updates section of our Glassdoor page. There’s great employees here, a sound strategy, and we are confident in our ability to deliver on our mission.
