Pros

You are essentially your own boss for 12 hours a day, you get to learn the city, you get to interact with people from all over the world, and you get tipped nicely if you are charming and honest. There is some potential to make real money if you are clever. This, however, takes time and experience. If you have to be a driver, make friends with more experienced drivers to learn the other part of driving (strip clubs, massage parlours, etc.) This can be a good short-term opportunity if you are not a felon, have no education, and enjoy working with people. This post is not meant to be an assertion of fact. This is based solely on the opinion of the writer. Your experience with the company may vary with the experience of the writer.

Cons

Unethical practices are tolerated, and somewhat encouraged or coerced indirectly by staff/management. Supervisors (who are mostly former drivers) will tell you that "your numbers are down for the month," and give you not so subtle encouragement to start taking advantage of tourists. They do this by 1) assigning cars and shifts based on monthly performance, 2) if you are not assigned a permanent shift, then you are given the worst car if you do not produce sufficient numbers, and 3) threatening to fire you if you do not have high numbers. Moreover, they will assign you a driver/supervisor who will tell you to long-haul (this is the practice of taking the long way to increase the price of a trip). Your coworkers *can* be utterly intolerable. There are some honest, hard-working drivers who are at the company. Others are immigrants who feel cheated by the system, or are morally base for whatever reason. Most US born drivers have some sort of addiction, or life leak that lead them to be drivers in the first place. Some do not shower, and most of them are overweight blobs. In regards to them being overweight, you will find out how easy it is to become out of shape after working as a driver. If you want to make money, you have to hustle. This means taking as short of a time as possible to get food. I'd recommend bringing your own lunch in a small cooler and keep it in the trunk. This will cut down substantially on costs, and will help you maintain a regular weight. Moreover, I'd recommend stretching and doing squats while waiting in line for a ride. No matter how you spin it, you will be spending most of your time every day in a vehicle. If you have any desire to change the company, or to be rewarded for honest performance with the company, then find a different career. The Taxicab authority will not/does not enforce preventing or rectifying unethical behavior either. You will not thrive financially, you will survive. You will not make a substantial amount of money, and companies like Uber will eventually monopolize the industry. This post is not meant to be an assertion of fact. This is based solely on the opinion of the writer. Your experience with the company may vary with the experience of the writer.

Pros

There are some nice people and the health care benefits are pretty good. They do have employee appreciation days where they have meals throughout the year which is one other nice thing.

Cons

There is a punishment point system. Vacation time is not great. From what I hear this is the best it has been in years. Yikes! Make sure you ask lots of questions about their complicated time off policy before accepting the job. Especially ask about how holiday pay works. There seems to be a lot of employee turnover.
