Pros
You won’t starve (if you don’t have rent to pay)
Cons
I’ve witnessed so many breaches of privacy. Every screen in new business sales was a yelp or similar directory and they would simply type in ‘flower business’ and ring every single number, just like somebody else did a few days before. There was no log of whether they had been called or weren’t interested, so they kept getting called. I would absolutely have considered it harassing. I also saw people scribbling down bank account details into notepads and haven’t let the customer know they’re doing that. I’ve seen other reviews from customers relating to storing card details when they say they haven’t and it is true that sometimes they were written down and not just entered into a billing platform.
I was also pressured into selling unsuitable products/upsells to customers who I knew full well would not understand how to use them or it would be a waste of money for a small business who wouldn’t consider hundreds of pounds as small change. I found it quite immoral and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.
Since starting Freestart, I feel I have progressed within my team, with the relevant training I have gained many skills and a variation of responsibilities. The support I have received in my desire to progress has been excellent with plans in place to cement my future with the Company. I feel there is a very strong sense of 'team' within this Company. Thanks to Freestart I now clearly know what career path I wish to pursue and I do believe my future is here.
Cons
The role I have undertaken is of a very high pressure but I thrive in a fast paced environment. I feel that once I have gained more experience this will be recognized in terms of pay and responsibility. I feel the only 'con' is the communication between departments. However, this is usually rectified in regular managers meetings. If the Company sticks to the plans made in the 'one to one' meetings I feel staff members would feel more guided and focused.
