Pros

Wanted to highlight in particular the company's excellent COVID-19 response. I was onboarded during the pandemic remotely and felt more supported by team members than I have felt being onboarded in-person at other companies. Throughout the pandemic, the company's managing partners have been communicative and clear about all plans and have avoided rushing to get us back in the office, while at the same time understanding and supporting the challenges of a prolonged remote work scenario. The managing partners have consistently emphasized through both their words and their actions that the health of their employees must be put first in all instances.

Cons

Certain aspects of communication occasionally suffer, as the company is still adapting to remote work -- however, these challenges seem to be understood and people are working to address them as much as possible.

Pros

If you learn by getting your hands dirty, this is an ideal place to learn everything in the tech stack and how huge companies think about making decisions with data. Strong startup culture allowing for early ownership of work and making changes to how the company operates No-one is a cog in the number-generating machine. People in Data and Software roles are also heavily involved in designing the work they do Great for senior technical staff who want more ownership and to engage in continual development unhindered by the slow response time of an enterprise company. Great place for generalists who could solve operational problems, write code, or do deep research. Lots of funding and diverse stock options make this a low-risk high-reward startup. People get to work on portfolio companies as suits their skills and interests A lot of time with the company founders allows staff to learn a lot about how 30+ year tech & C-suite veterans operate.

Cons

We are very focused on the best next-step in each AI system, and getting better results every week. While this is good (and a breath of fresh air for anyone who has watched a larger company stagnate), there is room for us to get more benefit from long-term research tasks or formalising our internal knowledge to help new hires learn faster. The most senior technical staff are stretched thin. They do great work and are supportive of their teams, but they each have FAR more than a full-time roles' worth of responsibility.
