Pros

- A really interesting product and set of problems to solve - Obvious direct impact in the market - Customers really love the software - Thoughtful and receptive leadership - I like the strategy and the pace of growth. It allows the team and culture to develop without expanding too rapidly. - Fun group of smart people. Everyone seems to have a good sense of humor and something interesting to add. - Great lunches

Cons

- Long commute for me, but not an issue if you live close to SF - Have to be able to self-manage more than other companies I've worked for. For the most part I like this, but sometimes the abundance of choices for things to work on can be intimidating. - With a small team we can't do everything and it can be hard to say no to good ideas.

Pros

Very positive team culture. Everyone is willing to help and it's not political. I enjoy working with the founders and I find them to be really understanding and interested in peoples' wellbeing. They are generous and accommodating. Interesting product area. Really smart people working on a really interesting section of the solar industry. Which leads to a meaningful impact for the solar industry and for our customers. At trade shows and in customer interactions we hear a lot of great feedback from customers that we've helped.

Cons

We're a small team and that means we have to say no to a lot of good ideas.

Pros

Folsom Labs approaches their business with the alacrity of a small team while managing to avoid the indecisive and often funding oriented operations of most start-ups. The goal is not to burn fast for an exit, the goal is to make a legitimate impact in the area of solar design while remaining a profitable business. Culture is great, with the small team making working there feel like going to be with a hardworking family, something I really appreciate after being at huge companies previously.

Cons

A smaller size company does mean that you have to get along with everyone you work with, and you have to put a fair degree of effort into making sure that what you're doing is helpful considering the fast pace of the company. However, these are solved easily by being able to talk to your coworkers and being driven to help create a constantly evolving product.
