Sinking Ship No Matter What Lies the CEO Tells - Course Materials Market Manager Follett Employee Review

Pros

Can form good relationships with students and faculty, and certain schools provide a campus ID, which can get you discounts at certain places as faculty/staff. Can let you met a lot of interesting people, if you get to go do a store and not be handcuffed to your desk and 3 year old laptop.

Cons

Upper management (above store level) is checked out and only concerned about making themselves look good. Push managers to work 50-60 weeks covering multiple stores for the pay of a shift manager. No real staff plan for most of the year, just 1-2 people per store, everyone else is a temp for 2 weeks. Home office decision makers tell a campus they are going to support them in doing things, then abruptly change their minds when its time to send the check and just send an email telling the local team to inform the camps, and take all the flak. DEI is still rampant, since the company is headquartered outside Chicago. They just changed the name to hide it all.

Pros

great management and communication from company to employees. Always fun events in store and uplifting environment when working towards business goals

Cons

lower side of wages however it is retail and most jobs are part time, so this is expected as some roles do not require higher education

Pros

- Flexible hours and scheduling - you get a PTG Bonus every few months - easy to balance with college - good coworkers and manager

Cons

- not a lot of tasks (you spend a lot of time looking busy) - hours are very inconsistent and there aren’t enough unless you can travel between stores - corporate isn’t great and can make working there frustrating at times
