Pros

Working for Focus Workforce Management was a good way to get hands-on recruiting experience. I learned how to move quickly, juggle a lot at once, and work directly with a client onsite. It definitely helped me build skills and gave me something solid to put on my resume.

Cons

It was a very stressful job. The hiring goals didn’t match what the labor market actually looked like, and being the only recruiter onsite meant everything fell on me. I was expected to be available after hours and on weekends, so there really wasn’t any work-life balance. Most days I went home still thinking about work and stressing over how I was going to fill roles that people didn’t even want. The client could also be tough to work with, which made things harder. At times, I also felt uncomfortable with how jobs were presented to candidates because the temporary nature of the roles wasn’t always made clear. In addition, the compensation is very low for all the work that I did. You have to work every holiday other than Christmas Day and New Years Day. I would not recommend this job to my worst enemy. If you are looking for a job right now I suggest looking somewhere else.
