I have been associated with Focaloid for more than a year now, and it 'was' an awesome place to work. A great set of colleagues, flexible work timings, weekend offs, occasional work from homes, and opportunity to learn more were enough to compensate for the delayed salary, and infrequent workload. Previously, even though the salary was never punctual, it was always credited before 15th of the following month.
Cons
Now, Focaloid is a company that HIRES in bulk expecting projects in near future, and FIRES in bulk either when they complete or lose those projects. The irony is, it's not even a concern for the management whether the employee joined couple of months back, or if he/she was with the company since its inception. Elaborating an incident that happened 2 months ago ! Few of my colleagues were called in on 23rd August, and were told: "Hey, we all know it that your July's salary is a lot delayed, and you guys are expecting it everyday. But it's really unfortunate to tell you all that we can't assure you a date. Our funds are delayed and we are expecting it by October. The only thing we can promise you is that, atleast your July's salary will be credited in October. So , you may move if you find better opportunities and the company can help in relieving you faster." Apparently, this list included: - A guy who has been here for years, and was forced to stay more when he told them about an offer he got a month ago. - Two guys who joined less than 6 months ago. There are lot more similar cases happened recently. The worst part here is that none of those folks got even a single month's salary cleared. Another strategy the company is following now, is providing salary hierarchically. Initial round to the top level staff, second round to those involved in long term projects, and so on.
