Pros

What a great group! They treat me like a human that brings value to their mission… they deal with me one on one… Phone / email / text… They know how to communicate. They also listen and take the advice of the pilots very seriously. You can see they are trying to grow something very real! They have good management in place… they recently received VC money to help their growth. They know how to treat and take care of both the customer and the staff. They are a good group.

Cons

Not many… not that I can think of any. I can think of a ton of cons about their competition who I also do work for. Take what I said in the “pros” and flip it to the cons for the coemption…

Pros

Working as a drone pilot for FlyGuys offers a professional entry point into the industry with no upfront signup fees, making it an accessible way to gain experience and build a portfolio. The platform stands out by providing access to high-value, technical missions such as LiDAR and thermal mapping, often supported by dedicated Project Managers who handle the logistical heavy lifting and client coordination. Additionally, their Pilot Experience department offers valuable resources and training to help contractors transition from basic photography to complex data capture. However, these benefits are balanced by the high cost of the specialized equipment, such as DJI Enterprise models, required for the most consistent work. Many pilots also find that mission availability is highly dependent on geographic location, leading to an inconsistent workload that may be difficult to rely on as a primary income source, especially given the lower pay rates for entry-level tasks and the strict QA standards that may require unpaid redos.

Cons

Work availability can be very inconsistent depending on your location. While the platform is great for gaining experience, it can be difficult to rely on as a primary income source because job frequency fluctuates significantly. Additionally, the pay for entry-level 'non-enterprise' missions is often quite low compared to the technical skills required.
