Pros
Great people, genuinely nice and smart. The culture is people focussed, lots of time spent (too much actually) on creating the cultural building blocks for future growth. Excellent on-boarding, the HR team is amongst the best I have worked with. You are welcomed and feel like a team member right away. The culture is pretty willing to adopt new ideas after a fashion. I found the CEO great to work with (many don’t share that view). Discourse is usually dealt with professionally, at least in my experience but again that is not a universal experience. The CEO is a real Jekyll and Hyde. I’ve seen him dish out “hair dryings” to senior staff that border on bullying, but I was never on the receiving end of one myself. If I had not witnessed it I’d probably not have believe it.
Cons
The product is sophisticated, complicated and above all a prototype. Key influencers on staff are not completer finishers and lose interest at POC stage wanting instead to move onto the next version before lessons have been incorporated from the real world. The exception is the new CTO who is of the right stuff. The lack of focus on the now and massive spend on future R&D will be their undoing. There have been loads of senior staff resignations including the CFO (which is the canary in the mine). However they are well funded, well meaning, competent smart people, and I really enjoyed my time there.
