It often operates more as a profit driven business than a mission driven one, which has contributed to turnover and good employees choosing to leave or being let go. Priorities tend to shift quickly, which makes it difficult to stay focused and build real momentum. That lack of consistency can create friction across teams and make execution more reactive than planned. More recently, the company appears to be expanding beyond cannabis into other regulated retail areas, including alcohol. While that may make sense from a growth perspective, it can make the direction feel less clear for employees who were drawn to the original mission.
