Pros

great store to work in. most of the employees that worked for me did their job and were happy about it. its a very inviting place to shop

Cons

very poor compensation for the amount of work that is required by management (myself). HR does not handle employee issues well at all. things get brushed under the rug and nothing comes of a complaint. no one is held accountable. the worst part is that when someone like myself works his butt off, doing 90 hours weeks from time to time and being a go-to guy for out district manager in the busiest district in the country (long island) i get no praise or promotion. they promote the wrong people and it has proven time and time again to lead to failure. they wind up getting fired and the good ones like myself who tried to hold out just quit.

Pros

-20% discount -med, dental, vision benefits -20-ish minimum hours per week -genuinely can be a fun store to work in when run well

Cons

-store managers have little to no oversight and cross professional boundaries often - hr is ineffective, document everything yourself, report to the EEOC -growth opportunities in the store are very limited and they will lowball you no matter what you do or sacrifice -crazy turnover because the expectations are unrealistic store managers lie about pay budget to everyone -more likely to hire teens and students because they are easier to take advantage of for little pay, only needs adult for when teens and students cannot work (night shifts, school days) - nearby stores, especially if in a strip mall or shopping center, like tj maxx have higher base pay, better benefits, better security, and more hour availability
