Pros

Although I have only been here 6 months, I have been impressed by the people I work with. Across the board, they are smart, caring and competent. Everyone is stretched pretty thin as we are growing both organically and via acquisition (e.g., Louisville which came onboard JAN 1), but they still do a good job and are pleasant in the process. The product is impressive as well. If you are in the market for a new home that you can help design yourself, we probably have a community somewhere near where you are looking. From picking out your lot to selecting amenities, it seems like you are building a custom home - even though you don't have to pay that much. Finally, the owners share the success of the company with the employees in their 401(k) contribution. Above and beyond the standard match, the amount of the additional contribution increases as the performance of the company improves.

Cons

Fast-paced environment keeps everyone hopping, but that is what you expect from a growing company. As we grow, a concerted effort will have to be made to keep the same "culture" they have had since the early 1980's when formed. Helps that it is a family-owned company and the family is still involved. As with any residential builder, external economic forces can dictate growth parameters. Things are good now but just a decade ago all builders were doing great as well. It is just an industry where things can turn very quickly.

Pros

They do a lot for interns here, HR is kind to do outings and are flexible with hours it’s rare to come by this.

Cons

My department specifically is male dominated and I experienced some bullying. It sucks to work hard, have boundaries, and still get made fun of for things I can’t control. My gender, my race, etc. This environment forced me to do a lot out of my comfort zone. Sometimes that was good, and sometimes it was just harmful,
