Pros

Working for FSFK has played a major role in both my academic and personal life. As a undergraduate student in community college, getting the opportunity to participate in pre-med programs is extremely hard to come by; however, FSFK presented this exact opportunity, giving me the chance to grow as a healthcare professional and inspire a new set of perspectives that have definitely motived me to pursue an academic career in pediatric neuroscience. The flexible hours and variety of cases and locations made it easy to fit work into my academic schedule (and the scheduling team themselves are fantastic people). Beyond academics, working for FSFK has filled much of my life with meaning. The teams and patients I've had the blessing of working with make the work itself extremely rewarding. To be as transparent as possible, I am 20 years old and extremely anxious about a lot of my future; working here has reduced that anxiety and made me more confident in myself and my abilities as a healthcare professional. I am well over a year of working for FSFK and nearing the end of my career with them as I plan to transfer to a UC this coming fall. Although I'm in a deep sorrow to be leaving, I'd do it all again and highly recommend working here if you are interested in general therapy (OT, behavior, speech, etc.), pediatrics, behavior analysis, and psychology/neuroscience!

Cons

As much as I love the work that I currently do and have done, I've had my fair share of tough days and even cases. The training provided can only do so much to properly prepare you for your sessions as a caring, compassionate, and effective registered behavior technician (RBT). Although your coworkers/supervisors are more than happy to provide any direction or assistance you feel you need, you must be ready to ask for it (this is especially true for home/school cases, where the cushion your peers offer doesn't exist). Additionally, I want to ensure that person reading this knows I'm easily motivated and ready to do what I believe is right as an RBT representing FSFK because I love what I do, not because the job is easy. There will be a lot of very hard days and sessions that simply do not go your way and I want to share with you that it is okay. To put it simply: when the going gets tough, do not get going. The impact that you can have on those around you and those you get the blessing of working with should never be undervalued. I wish you the best of luck with the learning curve that comes with becoming a quality RBT at FSFK!

Pros

1 dollar bonus after completing ~300 clinical hours

Cons

Not much support for new RBTs; de-escalation techniques learned on the job after earning certification, rather than during training. 1 dollar bonus is advertised as something earned automatically after completing 3 months on the job, but is actually only earned after completing 300 clinical hours.
