High level responsibility for low pay with immature management. - Paramedic First Responder Emergency Medical Services Employee Review

Pros

High level of field staff responsibility meaning you will be salty in a couple years. The field staff are awesome and most of the fire crews are amazing. The 24 hour shifts make it more worth commuting although I now work 48s elsewhere which is a major reason I left. The equipment here is better than some places.

Cons

Lowest initial pay in the region. If you can last a few years it would get better but most likely the management will find a reason to remove you before you make any decent money. The management is horrible. They won't help the field staff to save their own company (And they just closed their most profitable operation...). They seem to enjoy shooting themselves in the foot as they destroy their reputation. I hear how to avoid this company even now as I work in another state, "The management is out to get their employees". The HR and CQI offices appear to be actively hostile toward the field crews even though they are constantly short staffed. Ive never seen a successful company act this way. Very odd.

Pros

. Good area to get experience in, but unless you want to live there, plan on getting experience and leaving.

Cons

Lots of burnouts. Entry level for EMTs and Medics. Typical revolving door as people move on to better things
