Toxic and evil - Hired Help First Fruit Ministries Employee Review

Pros

It was said that the employees are disgusting spawns of Satan. They are misusing funds and lie to get funding. It is toxic and many employment laws have been violated. The ministry tells staff God is telling them these awful lies about people, like how they are disgusting or from Satan himself. Lies to get donations and are not good at all. Staff turnover is incredibly high! The board really should take a hard look at what is happening here. The board and outsiders coming in with money have no real idea into how toxic and poorly this is run.

Cons

Horrific!!! Not Christ centered evil!

Pros

First fruit serves Wilmington's most vulnerable populations: people experiencing human trafficking or homelessness. I gained extensive experience in non-profit administration, grant writing, and marketing through my 3 years here.

Cons

The stress of dealing with people in trauma, addiction, and homelessness can be emotionally taxing

Pros

This is a great place to work if you enjoy ministry and can set aside a lot of yourself.

Cons

For a ministry, I find there to be a great lack of one of their core values, being Christ-centeredness. While I worked here, I endured bullying from board members and staff and had to hear the CEO make racist comments as if they were nothing. There were no KPIs for any, so there was no way to measure performance outside of hearsay. There was no training, little onboarding, and an all around DIY feeling to the position. They refuse to hire staff and would rather have each person do the job of three people while also being incredibly underpaid and offering support with zero follow-through. They're nice people, but do not create an enjoyable work environment and their business model has lasted not due to the intelligence or savvy of any member but simply by sweet words to donors who don't know any better and the unending grace of God. Would recommend finding a job at the FBCENC or Vigilant Hope if this is a field you're interested in.
