Pros

Working at First Bridge School provides teachers with the opportunity to be part of a highly supportive, collaborative, and student centred environment. Staff are encouraged to work creatively and collaboratively to ensure all pupils can access learning in meaningful and engaging ways. The school places a strong emphasis on teamwork, professional development, and inclusive practice, allowing teachers to continue developing their skills while making a genuine difference in the lives of students. Teachers benefit from working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, creating a holistic approach to education and wellbeing.

Cons

Staff receive fewer school holiday periods throughout the year. However, this is balanced by receiving annual leave entitlements that can be used at your own discretion, allowing for greater flexibility when planning time off outside of peak holiday periods.

Pros

Working at First Bridge has been a very positive experience for me. I originally joined with a focus on recruitment, but over time I’ve been given the opportunity to expand into broader HR and people strategy work. That progression and level of trust has been something I’ve really valued. The organisation is purpose driven and the work we do supporting children and families is genuinely meaningful. There is a strong sense that people care about the impact of what they do. I’ve also had the chance to contribute to improving hiring processes, strengthening safer recruitment practices, and helping build the people systems needed as the organisation grows. It’s been a great environment to develop professionally and take ownership of projects that make a real difference. The team is supportive and collaborative, and there’s a shared focus on doing things properly and improving over time.

Cons

Like many growing organisations, processes and systems are still evolving as the business expands. That said, it also creates opportunities for people who want to build and improve things.
