Pros

Zero. Literally. I'd write less but Glassdoor is making me write at least 5 words.

Cons

I knew what Nepotism was before I started at First Alert, but never before have I ever seen it so rampant. This isn't the passable "a parent hiring their child to a low-level position type Nepotism. No, this is high, and highest of high level parents and spouses hiring their spouses and children to equally high and highest of high positions. Which means you can't talk to anyone, about anything negative within the org because everyone is connected. The wrong people lead incredibly high-level positions and if an individual should find themselves in a disagreement on anything, direction, solutions, processes... goodbye. Oh, and because of the nepotism and favoritism going to HR is an automatic death sentence. Their products and people don't work. Management knows it and is quick to point fingers to find blame.

Pros

Well-known brand with solid name recognition in the industry Some teams are supportive and collaborative Opportunities to gain experience if you're early in your career

Cons

Incredible level of nepotism—key roles are often filled based on personal connections rather than merit Advancement is difficult if you're not part of the inner circle Leadership can feel disconnected from day-to-day challenges Communication is often unclear, and decision-making lacks transparency Hard work is not always recognized unless it aligns with favored individuals
