Pros
FineTune is the nicest company I've ever worked for. The leadership team really cares about people. I don't know if it's because it is related to the fact that it's in education technology and that as an industry is very nice that attracts mission driven people, or the fact that the founders are nice people (a former teacher) and that trickles down. I have worked at many startups and tech companies, and it is often filled with egos and bad apples (passive aggressive, back stabbing, etc.). It's amazing but there is not a single bad apple here, and everybody cares about the work and the company.
The company is fully remote which is a great fit for me. It's not a fit for everyone and you really have to think about it's a good fit, but considering my personality, my network (I have a coworking space I can work), and the limited options in my local area, remote is a great option.
I love working in education technology. It's a fascinating field that is one of the most important topic of our times. It is personally rewarding for me.
I really enjoy working with an international team, it's fascinating to hear their perspective on things.
I personally enjoy working at a small company. It makes me feel connected to the team and mission, I'm not just another number.
Cons
Just like any startup, it's tough to know where the company is headed sometimes. But that con is also a pro - a small company means that my perspective is much more impactful, it is much less "bureaucratic" than other places I've worked, and everyone at the company is assessable.
