No Room To Grow - Operations Agent Fin Exploration Employee Review

Pros

- The people that work here are the only reason to work here. Met some of my best friends at this job. - Gym stipend - Some office outings(keep in mind not everyone will go because of the 24/7 hours) - 4 Days off that are not taken from your PTO after overnight shifts(to recover)

Cons

- You will be lied to constantly here by upper management trying to string along their employees that progress is happening either in the product or new operation roles, - Training is poor, you will be thrown to the wolves and have to learn 90% more than you were trained for - Management tells employees "you will never be surprised" that you will be let go. However, multiple employees were sent emails from payroll stating they were terminated before they even had that meeting face to face with their managers - You will work overnights every 2-3 months for two weeks, terrible experience as you are extremely understaffed(only working with one other person) with no help - You will work holidays - Your holiday pay will not be added to your payroll and you will have to constantly bring it up and get that money two weeks later - Hours will disappear from your paychecks[Document every second you work here because it will help you when explaining your hours] - You will deal with customers complaining a majority of your day about the cost of the product with no real escalation workflow or support on your end, basically "figure it out" as you go. - You will work weekends and rarely have two days off in a row(the preferences do not work for the schedule because of the poor staffing/ amount of employees) - There is no room for advancement at this time. - You are merely a number to the system, everything is metric based and you are held to that - Management has no idea how to actually manage. Constant issues that will not get resolved no matter how many times you bring them up. - CEO's are extremely out of touch with the company(when there is less than 50 employees). Sad to hear them not know anything about their own product - Engineering will drop new features every day, so be ready to adapt, without warning - You will then spend half your day trying to fix a broken tool that should have been tested before released - Engineering is the Wild Wild West, no real goal in the product, if they like it they will build it, even if it has no real functionality to the Agents role. - There is very little structure in the ops team/management which makes for a lot of "cooks in the kitchen" feel - You will have to wear multiple hats(which isn't bad), but you will get little to no recognition for your input and you will still be expected to hit your metric goals while doing extra projects - Recently, office negativity which lead to a lot of "he said, she said" conversations that make it feel like high school with no resolution in the end. - No real transparency with customers about how product pricing works - Queue work and inbound calls at the same time (no separation between the two) - No benefit or shift differential for working overnight shifts (you will get meals accommodated up to $15 per day, though) - Promise of travel between offices to build culture (SF to PHX / PHX to SF) in the office, but never acted on - You are supposed to have a weekly 1:1 which will likely turn into a monthly if not longer 1:1 due to the unorganized structure

Fin Exploration Response

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry that your concerns were not addressed satisfactorily while you were employed here at Fin, but I'm grateful for the comprehensive feedback you've provided here; it will be invaluable as we continue to improve and grow. You're absolutely right that there is a steep learning curve here at Fin; training only teaches the most basic skills necessary to start the work, and our toolset is always expanding. Success as an Ops Agent definitely requires that adaptation, experimentation, and self-motivation. However, it's also critical that management provide the team with effective support. Your advice to managers is excellent: guarantee regular 1:1 meetings, institute recurring team huddles, and provide honest, unambiguous answers to tough questions. In addition, bugs with payroll are unacceptable. While we're confident that those issues have been thoroughly resolved, we feel strongly that it's *never* acceptable to delay compensation; that won't happen again. In addition, we're now actively working to grow the team, which should help to address some of your dissatisfactions with the schedule and the energy in the office. Thanks again for your feedback.

Pros

- This company is really transparent and pretty straight forward on what to expect from the job. - The people and culture are so special. We have a lot of fun. We work really hard. We do amazing work. - Every day is challenging and an opportunity to learn something new. - The view is amazing - It's a tech start up, but there's no icky frat vibe. There's also no suffocating Corporate vibe. It's a collaborative adventure, in my opinion. - Managers and leads are supportive and incredibly open, communication and culture are highly valued here. - The pay & benefits are fantastic - While the schedule is not set, there's plenty of room to switch shifts around and when over night shifts Happen there's really nice compensation for it.

Cons

For me, personally, there are no cons. I've been here a bit over a year and, just like ANY place of work, I've had bad days, crazy days, tired days. But I've mostly had amazing days, proud days, hilarious days, fun days, comfortable days, just normal days, and even my bad days always end up getting better here. Likely not a good fit with Fin if you: - Cannot handle feedback and constructive criticism - Cannot adapt to constant change and don't like to be challenged DAILY - Can't keep open mind - Need a set schedule and specific days off every week - occasionally have to work overnights
