Pros
Have you ever driven over 100mph in a sports car, knowing it can handle the speed without the engine blowing or the tires flying off? Figure feels like that. We’re trying a bunch of different stuff but other challenger banks and lenders should be very afraid of what Figure can accomplish. We’re in the rear view mirror and coming up fast. The remote first option has been a life saver in this time of uncertainty and while startups are always going to be risky, everyone seems to be all in and willing to do their most to make the products successful. It’s great to here the CEO talk about the 5 and 10 year plans and the weekly meetings keep us reinvigorated. Seriously Mike, because I know you read these (eventually). Great job here on keeping us all informed.
Cons
Only one Executive person seems grumpy all the time and if you work here or used to work here you know who that is. I keep wanting to send positive vibes to tell the person to cheer up. Everyone knows the person is wicked smart and wish we knew how to make that person have a better day. But maybe there’s some pressures there that its a little bit too much. I don’t know. Anyway, regardless the work can get done despite a little bit of grumpiness. The time off policy is confusing. Unlimited? Not unlimited? How does that work? Little bit too much discussion about maybe recalibrating salaries due to remote work. Maybe level set it for new employees but this shouldn’t be on current employees. It really isn’t a windfall that everyone thinks it is. That’s it. It’s a good company and very interesting. There’s a few hiccups but come in with the right mindset. Adopt a “how can I say yes” to current peers instead of saying no first. Everyone has a job to do and a mission to support.
