Pros
• Shifts are between 2.5 and 6 hours (usually about 3 or 3.5) • Flexible schedule. Calling off is easy. • Work is easy. You're either building a wall, taking a wall down, scanning things, or pushing things on a belt. • Lyft coupon. Your ride is usually $10-15 with the coupon, but some days. they're $20 or more. • Purple Pathways is a training program for other FedEx jobs. • Tuition for some (online?) colleges • Help getting a CDL
Cons
• NO HOURS RIGHT NOW. I'm lucky to get 12 hours a week now. Things have been slow since before peak season last year. Management is always ordered to send people home early, even though there's plenty of work for everyone. • Inconsistent hours. They can change the start time the day of, sometimes an hour before the normal start time. • EXHAUSTING, especially for the first 6 months. • DANGEROUS. Boxes are always coming into the truck, even when your truck is already flooded with boxes or has larger items blocking your walkway. Don't be afraid to close the chute and catch up. • Loud, dusty environment (OSHA offers earplugs by the time clocks. They're kinda big, but you get used to them, or you could always buy your own. Either way, they're better than ringing ears.) • Broken machines. Boxes get stuck in the rollers all the time, and some chutes are hard to open, close and move.
