Fathom Creative is the perfect environment for a young professional looking to increase their knowledge of the industry, enhance their portfolio, and jump into the deep end of the digital pool (feet first). The management style is light, which means that the designers who thrive are the ones who can manage their own time/quality accordingly. I've seen designers add dozens of quality pieces to their portfolio when they push themselves. I've also seen designers struggle due to improper attitudes or expecting to be hand-held though the projects. The work is as good as you make it. Fathom truly is what you put into it. You always have an opportunity to shine if you work hard enough. There's no room for slackers.
Cons
Fathom is not for everyone, they require the cream of the crop to be successful. Anyone who is not the best at their field can be quickly overwhelmed. The family-style atmosphere can seem constrictive, especially in the close quarters office space. The pace of the work is quite fast, which means designs who can't produce work at a constant rate can sometimes feel stressed or bitter. Like any small company, Fathom is susceptible to toxic employees, affecting others with negativity when not content. However, the number of awesome personalities usually compensates for any negativity.
