Pros
Some good people, but they all left because the head chef’s reign of terror goes unchecked by GM, who doesn’t care because he thinks it doesn’t impact him.
When the head chef isn’t in there is actually a much better atmosphere, even when it’s busy and stressful it can actually be really nice if he’s not there throwing one of daily hissy fits.
Cons
Worked like a dog, and treated horribly. Actually, if someone treated their dog like that they would call the RSPCA.
Head chef tends to go through phases of terrorising one specific person. It’s seemingly random so I don’t know if he draws a name out of a hat at the start of a shift or what.
Upper management / area manager sometimes comes in and doesn’t talk to anyone but other managers. Then he changes everything and moves everything in the kitchen which inevitably leads to chaos because no one knows where anything is.
There is a reason this job is always hiring, if you take the job then you’ll understand why.
