Pros

Fairly good job security even in a down economy, they pride themselves on not doing layoffs. Although they may force you to do a job you hate and not pay you enough, you will at least have a job.

Cons

Unless you constantly bother the higher-ups or constantly look at opportunities, it's hard to get a raise or move up. They never pay enough to keep up with inflation and don't do yearly reviews to put you up for a raise like any typical company, they make you come them which is always an awkward conversation. They also can be very slow to hire new people as they try to be as lean as possible forcing you to have to do many things that aren't your job and that you don't have time for.

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
