Pros

I try to take something positive from all experiences and from Fastenal there weren't many but I liked my coworker. Singular not plural. Leaving felt amazing.

Cons

Managment is placed far passed their skill level. Manager trying to convince me Fastenal is a quality employer because " they're fortune 500" Fastenal is not in the fortune 500 as of the last report and what would that matter anyhow? A testament to their ignorance though. Encouraged not to focus on walkin customers. Poor inventory control. Shipments lost in transit frequently. Awful training. If you get " promoted" hourly wage drops dramatically. Pay for company shirt. I noticed on interview I was told 75 dollars for steel toe boots took me to store to buy cheapest 25 dollar boots could find, in managers defense on this one lots of turnover lots of boots. I was giving keys 2 hours into first day? Who does that? Fastenal. No yearly raises or cost of living increases. The canon city branch just looks in disarray very dirty cluttered store, accurate reflection of company in my view. Don't take my word do your research before getting involved with Fastenal. Good luck

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
