Pros

Casual dress environment = a plus! Good benefits = also a plus! Decent time off accruals and thankfully I have a great manager whereas I have heard of some in the company who shouldn't even be in a management position. Although technology is a con right now, it is about to be a pro in the near future.

Cons

Working from home shouldn't be so restrictive. Personally, allowing your employees to work from home at the least 1 day a week would greatly improve morale. There are some who only work part time here and are allowed to work from home almost the entire time.

Thank you for your feedback. Having a good benefits package and attention to work/life balance is a priority for us. Some additional clarification regarding your comments: With respect to our managers, I would ask that you consider their commitment to the company in terms of longevity/loyalty and the institutional, supervisory and industry experience they possess. I feel we have a very cohesive and well-performing management team that cares greatly about our employees--and our company’s success. We’re finally at the end of a massive technology upgrade—with our infrastructure/systems remarkably improved. Just a few more items to go including all new work stations by mid-year. More pros than cons at this point, for sure. Regarding work from home, we’re able to provide a great deal of job flexibility to accommodate personal situations—including illness, family situations and commutes. I would suggest having a discussion with your supervisor or HR if you feel you need more flexibility in your position. I’m sure we can work out a satisfactory arrangement for you. Finally, part time employment is more analogous to an independent contractor than a full-time employee. Your example refers to a very specific technical position without the same benefits as a full-time employee. Thanks again for your comments—they are appreciated!

Pros

Family Features allows for a good work/life balance with a flexible schedule and PTO package. There is a casual environment along with activities throughout the year to help foster teamwork and promote volunteerism/charity. Management and team members are approachable, willing to help and are open to new ideas to grow the business and continue to develop in a digital age. Management seems committed to both individual and team success.

Cons

Opportunities for advancement are limited due to the small size of the company with no clear path for moving up. There also seems to be a divide, literally and figuratively, between the production and sales teams. Turnover rate is also pretty high and some of the technology is out of date, though they are working on fixing the latter.

Your comments about retention are certainly top of mind with our management team. All companies experience some level of turnover and it’s important for us to understand the reasons behind it. If an employee leaves because they feel their career opportunities are limited, we’ll try to address it and encourage feedback on specific concerns, training and career aspirations. It starts with a discussion and oftentimes, ends with an actionable plan. With respect to new products, we’re constantly evaluating what clients and customers need—and our goal is to add products/services that can reliably deliver outcomes.
