Pros

The cafeteria food in Johnston is excellent!

Cons

My time at FM Global has been marred by a series of disappointments, with one of the most egregious being the company's return-to-office policy. On the surface, it's presented as a strategy for knowledge sharing and collaboration, but in reality, it's a thinly veiled attempt to cater to the CEO's demands regarding the company's real estate portfolio. Rather than prioritizing the well-being and preferences of employees, this policy seems to prioritize the CEO's agenda above all else. It's disheartening to see the company using knowledge sharing as a guise to push forward decisions that serve the interests of a select few at the top, rather than considering the needs and concerns of the entire workforce. What's worse is the lack of transparency surrounding this policy. Employees are left in the dark about the true motivations behind it, further eroding trust in leadership. Instead of fostering open communication and collaboration, the company's approach to the return-to-office feels manipulative and self-serving. This is just another example of the poor leadership that plagues FM Global. There's a disconnect between the decision-makers at the top and the employees directly impacted by their choices. Until there's a genuine commitment to putting the needs of employees first and fostering a culture of transparency and trust, I fear that FM Global will continue to struggle with retention and morale issues. I can't in good conscience recommend FM Global to prospective employees. The company's return-to-office policy is just one symptom of larger systemic issues that must be addressed. Without significant changes in leadership and company culture, FM Global will continue to fall short of its potential.

Pros

The benefits are decent with a modest pension.

Cons

Managers are less knowledgeable by the day and so are the frontline workers. There has been a serious decline in knowledge and skills over the past few years but senior management isn't doing anything about it. We assume they don't even notice. The game plan seems to be that AI will take care of everything. Good luck with that. When things start to unravel in a few years every manager will blame someone below them. Maybe then the board of directors will start paying attention to the serious mismanagement that our CEO seems so gleefully proud of.
