Pros

Flexible telework offered, collaborative team environment, great location and transit subsidy benefit is super helpful. Management is really committed to providing a healthy work space where feedback is encouraged and being hyper-communicative about expectations.

Cons

Start up/Boutique feel, so you are heads down from the time you enter to the time you leave, but this is balanced out by generous employer providing impromptu office parties to build morale.

Pros

FIN Digital really values hiring someone for their skills and their thirst for building great things for their clients. Marcus and Rakia have been in tech for a long time and are honest about what they expect from you and the responsibility in building great things for the client. It is a no excuse workplace which for someone who likes to work at their best and independently it's great. The staff were always treated to lunch, offered happy hours after long days and were given an open door policy to Marcus & Rakia. Because it's a smaller team working on large projects it was up to you to be transparent and say what you needed, but once you did Rakia will jump over backward to help. I gained so many additional skills and really gained an empathy and understanding on the power of technology by working at FIN. There is a real dedication to the client and being responsible that I enjoyed. To the comments below, as an employee (not a contractor) I never had an issue with my check and my benefits package was great (All holidays off, 2 weeks paid vacation, floating holiday, 400 works from home hours, healthcare, eye, dental). Also, if Marcus & Rakia ever felt the staff had a difficult week or just needed a break they would quickly offer a work from home day for the whole team. The project are exciting and Rakia really pushes each staff member to be invested in it's success. I only left because of family reason but I would work at FIN again.

Cons

They do tend to hire senior level full-time staff and contract junior level staff in hopes of training them (I don't think they do this anymore). This caused the contract staff (who considered themselves full-time) to attempt to get away with things and make excuses. Also, because they weren't really full-time and didn't receive all the benefits of the senior-level full-time staff there at times was a sense of resentment from them which could be frustrated for the people trying to get things done. It's a client focused company so when a client is upset expect a internal meeting to discuss what happened and how to move forward, but the Management team will always handle the client even if you were the one that caused the issue. If you don't speak up you may risk not getting the help you need.

Thank you for your review. We are aware of the internal culture shift needed to adhere to our diverse team. We have worked internally to enhance the onboarding experience for new team members and existing staff.

Pros

They order good lunches sometimes.

Cons

Don't bother trying to work here. Marcus and Rakia maintain a fine public reputation, but in the end you'll regret ever being hired. I was hired in August 2017. Three of us were onboarded together. 2 designers and 1 office manager. 3 months later in November, Marcus and Rakia politely dismissed all 3 of us. Like, right before the holidays. They told each of us (separately) that we were "unqualified". Yeah right. Just more Marcus and Rakia have very shady business practices. I know you'll apply bc you need a job. But don't bother. At the end of the day, you'll be grossly underpaid, and you'll be looking for a job again within 6 months. Because at the end of the day, when finances get tight for Marcus and Rakia, they unload employees to cut overhead.

Though our company has no record of releasing any staff at the time you've identified I'm sorry this was your experience. We do provide employee reviews to all staff at the end their 90 day period, during this review staff will be encouraged to enhance or refine their skills for the best of our clients and company. This review is meant to be helpful in the continued success of that staff member. Though the growth of the company is dependent on its business development needs, FIN is a medium sized company that budgets for a lean and mighty staff; no position is confirmed unless the budget for that position is seen 5X over. No staff member has ever been relieved due to company financial strain. FIN Digital has been profitable each year since it's inception and has never required staff cutbacks. With the leadership of 4 founding partners, a board and accounting team we believe our business practices are standard to the industry and adhere to all regulations and requirements when it comes to our staff, company, and clients. With staff members that have been with FIN since it's inception, we believe this is a company that values the longevity of our staff. If there is anything, our team can do to rectify your experience we encourage you to reach out to a member of our staff immediately.
