Pros

FEMA has a great mission and workforce. There is also alot of variety in the roles and tasks you have access due to Incident Support/Management role requirements. SES leadership has historically been very good but has suffered significantly under the latest administration.

Cons

Leadership is enforcing more stirngent requirements for deploying for disasters, which could require 30+ day field deployments. This can be avoided by taking an Incident Support role and deploying to the National Response Coordination Center, but even still that can require 2+ weeks of working 7days/week, 12hr/day.

Pros

Work life balance is good. You come, you do your work, you go home. Casual work environment. Hybrid, but a lot of flexibility to be remote

Cons

If you're not ex-Military or an older white man, you'll have respect performed to you but not actually given. You might be in the room, but you'll be ignored or talked over.
