The people who I worked with were all really nice

Low pay, disregard for employee health, demanding with no reward or support, undervalue their employees resulting in a high staff turnover

Thank you for your feedback. We do support employees not only with their careers but also with their physical and mental wellbeing. We offer regular training, defined progression routes, onsite gym, funded football and netball teams, funded social events, free wellbeing helpline, dedicated diversity and inclusion events and regular charity events. We have a performance culture but most people finish on time at 5:30pm, though there will always be exceptions at odd times. We do not have a high turnover, we have around 750 staff and while there are people who do move on, our core stability index remains high. We champion peoples careers – for example we have over 200 people who have qualified as a Solicitor during the 24 years tenure of the Company plus lots of people who have celebrated their 5, 10, 15 and 20 year anniversaries which we are seriously proud of. These long-service award come from all areas and levels of the business. We wish you all the best with your next role.

The people I met, this is the only pro

Cons

I think the title says it all- constant bullying, micromanaging even the smalles things (like checking letters before they got sent out), employees being shouted at when they’re already overworked. NCT is a literal call centre with toxic management and even the office is depressing. Wages are low

If you have any additional concerns, please do email HR at ALLHR@expresssolicitors.co.uk Working in our NCT Team does involve a lot of talking to clients, as they deal with clients looking to engage our services. The work they do is key to our business. The level of call work, would have been explained to you in the interview process. We always try to be as open as we can as to what the role entails. We do expect high standards from our Team Members, as we want our clients to have the best experience from their very first interaction with us. This means at times, if we are working closely with a Team Member to improve the quality of their work, we will have their outgoing communication checked. That is however, to allow the individual to have the support they need to improve. We are sorry you didn’t find the working environment suitable as we do generally have a lot of employees staying with Express for long periods, either going on to progress into Team Leader roles within NCT or into other roles within the wider firm. The team also does socialise outside of work with a number of events being paid for by the company.

Pros

You meet some nice people who are willing to help without stabbing you in the back

Cons

If ALL staff were treated the same it would probably be a better place to work but unfortunately there is a lot of favouritism that goes on. The advert for PAs is more or less a permanent fixture on the website mainly because they let the good ones go without giving a second thought as to why staff are leaving. Since I have worked here I have never known a firm with such a high turnover of staff which must make people looking for a job wonder why. I myself along with a lot of other people are also looking for other jobs.
