Tired of doing real work? Want free lunches in a swanky office? Want a free phone? Monthly treasure hunts? Sadly it's not enough to compensate for the rotten core beneath this shiny veneer.
Cons
If you want to do actual work or be effective here, you are going to have a hard time. Managers don't like people who are competent, it is threatening to their fragile ego's. This place is a growing waste of taxpayers dollars, and the work has stayed so far from what economic development is actually supposed to do. Those that are actually doing the "work" to help companies grow are so privately judgemental of them, and play favorites. Government picking winners and losers with private enterprise is not a recipe for success. I personally heard my own director scathingly mock almost every company he worked with, and then paste on a sickly sweet smile to his face when dealing with them in person. It's not a healthy culture and this behaviour is a toxic cancer.
