Pros
Nothing positive to work here. Only good thing I found that my immediate co-workers and immediate colleagues were nice to me and we had great time working together
Cons
1. Run by inexperienced, incompetent and entitled A*STAR scholars. They are promoted every year even if they do nothing. ASTAR scholars are in ASTAR to enjoy their bond period. Job is guaranteed so no need to perform ma..Sometime a person with 20 yr experience reports to Astar scholar who has 5 years of experience. Basically no value for your experience and no career growth. Projects run by Astar scholars get all the funding and resources. Other projects are neglected. An Astar scholar with no domain expertise is made the director of that division ignoring other staff just because CEO plays favorite with this scholar. 2. All the heavy lifting is done by other staff and when this go wrong, all the blame is put on the employees. 3. Toxic office politics, no recognition of work, but quick to blame and make scape goat of you. Management never contribute anything scientific but want staff to do everything and give back no appreciation. 4. The CSO is just a puppet for some power centres. 5. CEO does not trust the current staff and always tries to target / harass them so that they can leave and new staff can be appointed. 6. Decisions are taken by C suite without consulting any of the senior staff or taking anyone in confidence. 7. CEO is an Ang mo and trusts only other Ang Mo + staff that try to please him. So many foreigners are recruited without retraining or promoting existing Singaporean staff. 8. Never have honest discussion with staff because if you ask questions or say anything, later you will be targeted during appraisal. Vengeful! 9. Many good people already got fed up and left the organisation. More will go in next 1-2 years. Management don't want to retain competent people. They only like 'yes sir/ yes ma'am' type people.
