Pros

Ok salary Work from home 1 day a week

Cons

Contrary to popular belief, Exigent is NOT really an “awesome” place to work. The environment is similar to the movie "Pleasantville" where everyone is super nice all the time to the point you know deep down they’re faking it. People rarely verbally speak to each other (they send emails and IMs even though you are right next to them) and for the most part people come in at 8:30am and leave at 5:30pm on the dot. Managers, not all, but most tend to lock themselves in their office all day long and give off an “unapproachable” vibe. There is very little allowed social time during the work hours as we must work, work, work, bill, bill, bill. It becomes weird when we must take into account the time we spent going to the rest room too. Some managers know their stuff while others not so much which shows when technical questions come up and they have no clue what’s going on. What I’ve notice about this company throughout my time there were many instances of inert antipathy that is so dexterously executed you’d miss it if you did not understand body languages. Obviously, when everyone is always nice in a stressful industry that is managed IT services dealing with computer issues and end users etc. it is simply not normal behavior to ALWAYS BE NICE. People at Exigent do not vent or at least there are very little evidence to support this. Exigent is a very profitable company; however, it is incredibly cheap when it comes to its staff’s equipment. I’ve witness engineers using 5 year old computers, single monitors, $10 wired headphones for calls and the cheapest mice ever think “Amazon Basic” equipment to provide support. The tool kit provided to engineers pathetic at best. All the equipment in it is worth $30 including the price of the bag. That bad had no screw driver in it. NO screw driver, what was in it was a cheap multi tool like a Swiss Army multi tool knife. They only have one, yes ONE screw driver in the office I kid you not. Once, I had to go back and forth with management to approve a $20 piece of equipment to complete my job, unbelievable! I currently work for an MSP with a total of 8 people and about 25-30 clients and each engineer and tech has a Lenovo X1 Carbon for when they are out and about, Jabra PRO 9470 wireless headsets, Logitech wireless Bluetooth mice, a Dell OptiPlex with a Xeon CPU and 3 24 inch Dell monitors for when we are in the office. I’ve worked in the IT industry for over 12 years and I’ve never experienced an environment like this one. Eventually, my time at Exigent honestly put me in a state of depression. I eventually just shut down and hated every moment coming into the office – I was in Zombie mode. The lack of social interaction with team members, the unfortunate sadness of eating lunch by yourself in your car every single day as lunch must be scheduled per person (Yes that’s right, you must ask permission to take lunch and it’s often one person at a time when it came to the engineers.) If you are an anti-social person who just wants to get their job done and go home and do the same things over and over and over with limited social interactions then Exigent is the ABSOLUTE BEST company for you. If you want to be social and laugh and bond with your team members where you can take lunch together like most other companies do, then this is not the place for you. Please remember what I said above, everyone at Exigent is always nice. Notice how all the reviews here (except mine obviously) have the same theme?

Exigent Technologies Response

First off, I apologize for my tardiness in responding to this review. I am sorry that your very brief Exigent experience did not match up with our goal of being an employer of distinction. While we take issue with some of the comments as inaccurate and disagree with you on multiple points, we are always on the lookout for ways to improve upon what we are doing and realize that we are not infallible. We have worked very hard for a long time to create a company culture that reflects our core values and establishes the importance of teamwork and interaction on both the business and social levels. Nonetheless, we are pleased that you landed safely and are having a good experience at your current employer. We do appreciate the feedback and wish you the best of luck moving forward.
