Plague To Council Leisure Centres - Fitness Advisor Everyone Active Employee Review

Pros

They will put staff on courses. Apprenticeship scheme inproved, will honour existing contracts for reasonable amount of time for staff they accumulate from contract take overs.

Cons

Are brilliant at sweet talking councils into taking over their contracts to ruin leisure centres but then seem lost when running the leisure centre in terms of appealing to the members or familiarising themselves with that area. Our opening weekend was a distaster as they didn't seem to know how to attract people despite doing the same to the council months earlier. They squander funds, half they course I did were unnecessary & not something I've put on my CV, they paid for my petrol to drive half way across the country for a 4 hour workshop with other staff that was pointless & they seem unfocused on their 'new member journey' which constantly changed. Plus they restricted the fitnes team in my final year due to poor performances from the new contract manager in his first year, leading to drastic job losses & pay cuts. They seem to want to run their leisure centres like they're in the private sector, even though they're running contracts for council leisure centres & need to be part of the community.

Pros

Large company with options to relocate around the country, if you wanted to. Very good with health and safety procedures, majority of processes ready to be implemented.

Cons

Very sales driven. Targets, KPIs and profits are prioritised over colleagues and members. Sales team expected to give up personal time on end of month. You're expected to check and respond to emails when you're off or on annual leave. The company is very clique, you don't really progress unless you know someone in a senior role. Salary is always advertised as 'competitive' however, the pay doesn't justify the work you're required to do, or the extra time you work without pay. It's frown upon to claim for time worked outside of your contracted hours. There is no such thing as work life balance: you're expected to work day all the time and not be paid for it.
