Pros

Great mission focused on birth justice Talented, passionate staff Good benefits

Cons

-Staff turnover speaks for itself. In just a couple of years we had about 50% staff turnover. This is a small organization and yet, I witnessed one staff member who quit on their first day, and several others who quit before ever reaching one year. -This is one of the most toxic places I have ever worked. The staff are so kind and talented but are expected to provide constant updates on their work to leadership, are given very little latitude to perform their work, and are bullied, disparaged, or discouraged for taking initiative or expressing a viewpoint that leadership disagrees with. Myself and other staff members have been individually critiqued and berated for not smiling enough in team meetings. I have also witnessed staff members of color be bullied in front of other staff by their supervisors—literally on a zoom call with other staff present. -The organization is poorly managed. The strategic direction is constantly shifting and staff are often given conflicting directives as the winds shift. There is also an uncomfortable power dynamic, with unspoken privileges awarded to staff in leadership positions. There’s a clear “in” group within the organization and among those who have personal connections to the board or the founder which directly contradicts the organization’s supposed commitment to equity.
