Pros
- free movie tickets - 50% off of popcorn, coke, and choctops - 20% off of other concessions - offers a great balance with other committments e.g. university - co-workers are mostly friendly and great people - meet many interesting customers that I am on a first-name basis with
Cons
- almost always understaffed - customers are often rude - managers do not see you as people - innovation is discouraged - other co-workers are not very helpful in terms of cleaning and maintenance activities - sexism e.g. women being excluded from conversations, less qualified men being promoted over well-qualified women, women being expected to "take more" than the men - managers and some supervisors are occasionally reluctant to help - our physical and mental safety is not a priority - responding to criticism is dismissed as "talking back" - managers and especially supervisors can't handle constructive criticism, particularly male supervisors - workplace culture is highly dependant on the co-workers rather than the values that EVENT supposedly prides itself on - EXORBITANT prices for everything e.g. a small glass of wine costing the same as the entire bottle does in the supermarket, a popcorn that costs 60 cents to make being sold for almost $10, embarrassingly flimsy and sparse pizzas costing almost $20, etc. - an employee who sexually harassed almost every female employee was not fired and still works there to this day meanwhile a different employee received a disciplinary meeting for accidentally leaving food out of the freezer, meaning that food is considered more important than women
